Funny how they cut the Best Motion Picture nominations down from 10 to 8 when they know damn well Creed and Straight Outta Compton could’ve gotten those spots.

Michael B. Jordan was brilliant in Creed. I’m baffled as to why he didn’t receive a nomination.

It's kind of amusing that this thread is full of people complaining about the lack of POC nominees when just a few months ago yall were defending the fact that this magazine cover only had white actresses on it because "no POC had Oscar worthy roles this year."


At the very least, Idris should have been nominated. Being on Netflix probably hurt his chances.

Honestly I didn't even notice or paid attention to no POC nominations, it's not that deep. The thing that needs to happen is more POC roles before the awards because that's the true problem, and I don't mean those ****** predominantly black films. I mean diversity.

I understand what you mean, but just because they didn't pick a movie staring a Black guy doesn't mean they are racists, they just thought the other movies were better

I'm just saying this isn't the Oscar's fault. If anything it's Hollywood's fault for not having more movies staring Black People, Asian People, Latino People, LGBT people, and all other Minorities.

I don't understand why y'all so desperately need poc to be validated by these white award shows. We should be applauding how successful poc have been in film and tv in recent years. To me those are bigger accomplishments for us then winning oscars or golden globes.

That's nice and all but this is exactly why it's a topic of conversation for the past two years. POC, minorities are not represented when it comes to award shows..and regardless of how people shrug off at the GG, Oscars, Grammy's, etc. they are important prestigious..well the Oscar is..

Straight Outta Compton was nominated but the writers(whom are white) are the ones nominated..that doesn't even sit well with me.
