Katie Hopkins is the most offensive person in Britain but she was rewarded with a finalist position last year. The hypocrisy of the public is quite frightening when you think about it. She insulted gay people (she occasionally made subtle homophobic jibes at Perez, though most viewers probably didn't even clock on), someone's looks who had been burned by acid, and even attacked a disabled boys right to free healthcare.
I don't agree with what Winston said and he was rightly evicted, but the double standards are very telling. If a white middle-class woman says vile things, she is given the opportunity by the public to go on a journey of redemption. If an old working class black man says those things, he's treated like vermin with absolutely no chance of redeeming himself.
. O right because he's white.
