Tbh, the whole "the industry is dying because music sucks now" thing has never made any sense, and isn't true at all.
Even back in 2000 the music industry was full of talentless people, as much as now. Baha Men, Sisqo, Shaggy, NSYNC, and even damn Aaron Carter & Lil Romeo were doing multi-platinum.
The decline has nothing to do with 'real artists disappearing'. People just don't wanna buy CDs anymore. Streaming is more convenient and 'in', so even if suddenly every artist in the industry was full of personality and talent, sales would still decline. Streaming is the future either way. It's unpreventable. It's how the evolution of the industry works. Adele is a one-time case, an anomaly.

I realize that, but I'm saying that if the industry wants to start making more money (touring is here to stay; people aren't gonna stop going to concerts because Spotify exists), they need to start recruiting people who could become actual superstars.
Streaming is taking over indeed, but that doesn't mean that the industry can't find some people who will evolve into A-list pop stars. I really doubt the people who signed likes of Omi, Daya, and R. City were thinking that they had the next big thing in development.
