I really don't understand the stan world's aversion to Katy, it's like they're afraid to see she's good too. Good thing the gp doesn't agree with them about Katy, they eat her singles up.
It's mostly just one base who has that aversion though
katy could never win she can put out the weirdest lead single or song and random gays on atrl are gonna be running on the thread to call her generic and basic lmao tyhey probably dont even know what generic means

Do you guys remember when Katy performed Roar at the VMAs and the members of a certain stanbase were all holding their breath for the entire 30 seconds she was jumping the rope hoping she would fall?
Coming for Katy because she makes radio friendly music and denying that she's (bound to be) an icon is the dumbest thing ever. Michael Jackson's music was radio candy in the 80s. Mariah Carey's hits were what the radio asked in the 90s. Britney Spears' entire discography is written for the radio. And these are all legends.
Madonna in the 80's as well!
Catchy, successful pop music lays the foundation and builds the framework for long, prosperous pop careers.

Little did they know that all the arty fartyness, high end, sophistication,... was the 80s archetype of wanting to look good.
And the second part 44:00 on buying into the archetype of lifestyle, status.
Every decade has their language, priorities,...

Because it's scary thought to them if Katy really is talented, the driving force behind the decisions making her happen,... What if Katy can keep giving consistency the other girls couldn't. What if Katy is as difficult as England to defeat, the Spanish Empire, the sneaky French, the Germans,... tried for centuries. They hope the "fluke" would just go away.
Hey, we got an amazing song tho. And it was still a moderate hit!
Honestly, I always envisioned the perfect Birthday video as being like these from her GQ shoot:
But I do agree the avi fits!
Looking like these 2 pictures would be fantastic.
I see the Prism era as experimentation of what could possibly go wrong and all the possible ways to stray from the TD era. Trying to make a "funny" video to go viral didn't work. No narrative, just random pretty scenes like her peers, didn't work.
birthday is such an amazing song really the only song from prism that still sounds fresh and fun. the production the vocals i don't even care for the metaphors it's a really good song
