I really don't think it's permanent - that is, I think it will always be around, but after a while they won't reveal any new Mega Evolutions for old Pokemon and will just do a couple a generation, like an afterthought rather than the strong focus its had so far, and I don't think that many legendaries will get Mega equivalents in total. I think it's clear that Zygarde will since it's the easiest way to incorporate it's 100% form, and probably Arceus at some point to restore its "god of Pokemon" status, but not a ton in the future.

I don't want them to keep releasing as many megas as they are doing now. It's fine for Z, but there should be way less next gen.

^I agree and i don't think they will. Megas are their new shiny gimmick and they'll obviously push them this gen but they can't do this forever.

Also i don't think 100% Zygarde will be a Mega because if Xerneas and Yveltal end up with something like a Mega Zygarde will be weaker again.

But how are the two cores (which I feel are unlikely to be introduced as in-game Pokemon) going to lead to a full 180 base stat change, since it's probable they'll want to raise it to compete with Mewtwo and Rayquaza's Megas?

Maybe it won't be Mega/Primal since those only do about a hundred boost in base stats, but I don't know if it will revolve around just the cores either, since Mega Evolution is being pushed so hard this Gen.

Maybe it'll be a combination of some sort, I dunno.

I'm just confused as to why Zygarde is only as tough as a pseudo-legend, as opposed to simply being a tiny bit weaker like Kyurem. That's a big stat difference.

My best guess is that 100% gets a 100 BST boost (so it has 20 more than the other 2) and maybe that all 3 legendaries get a mega or something similar (but not necessarily)

As for the cores i don't think they'll be actual Pokemon. maybe Key Items or something

The only thing I'm pretty sure won't happen is all 3 getting a Mega/Primal deal. First because that's more 780 base stat Megas than ever, and second because a 780 base Geomancy Xerneas would literally be Satan.

They already broke the game with the Primals and especially Mega Ray. I really don't think they care anymore
