Yeah QAF is not that gritty. It deals with a lot of heavy stuff but in the end it's always heart-warming. But that's what I like about it. I wouldn't call it camp. Glee is camp.

The Sopranos and The Wire are like the best shows of all time, you definitely have to watch.

The Wire is heavier to get into but you definitely should. Maybe watch 'Show Me A Hero' first to get the drill of his directing and storytelling style.
