well the people who see these ads and think "black people have stds" are already racist people. a normal person would think "i should be aware of stds and get protected" not that. it is their problem if that person thinks that dumb ****. not the advertisers. its probably a nonprofit ad trying to help people. they probably use black models to empathize and help the most affected people. i dont think there is any bad intention. do you feel like it puts a stigma on white people when only white people are used on ads? probably not. the ads benefits us all

i think a lot of it has to do with being more likely to be poor, and living in areas with lower quality schools (meaning lower quality sex education).

i think the gay community in general has a pretty flippant attitude towards STDs (don't hook up with people without using condoms, kids. life lesson of the day), so that kind of risk taking plus the above factors seems to be the answer to me.

The lack of information and understanding, I think? Hell right now you cannot even have unprotected sex with your partner. Also, there's too much promiscuity in the community (I'm not talking about POC but in general)

My girlfriend isn't even gay or black and noticed and thought to mention it to me to see if I agreed with her. The point is that it does stigmatize black gay people more than they already are. That's just the facts.

Also what's the point of the ads if they aren't coming to the community and actually educating? I've seen pop up testing centers in almost every white neighborhood in Chicago but none in the Hood.

It is young black women being infected the most of any group. However, in the gay community black guys and latin guys are disproportionately affected by HIV epidemic. Black guys being at the top of the list. That's just the facts. This has been true for a few years now.

Black people aren't on it. One of my friends told me he didn't want to get on it but I convinced him he should absolutely get on the Prep. I dumped another white guy when he told me he won't date any guy that's on Prep. I'm like that's just smart planning.

Great way to help would be to ignore the PC nonsense and, if you love your gay black friends, ask them to get tested! You can have it for a while and not know, thus spreading it and putting your health at risk. By ignoring the elephant in the room and trying to be PC about it you're literally the worst friend they could have. And if you're a white gay you might as well take your own ass to get tested too because the rates are nearly just as high (unless you aren't sexually active or you know they aren't then don't bother obvs).

But yeah this is due to a huge lack of education, "down low" culture, homophobia in the black community and racism from every other direction.
