Why does it seem like we all felt this semester was universally bad?

It could have been much better for me if I managed my time more effectively and didn't take both a history and an astronomy class in the same semester. But, that was only a result of the classes I really wanted not being offered or not working well with my schedule.

Honestly, I think this is a worldwide phenomenon this semester...

This semester was draining in every sense. I have 3 finals next week and then I'm out. I've never been more exhausted in my life. 3 all nighters last week and one breakdown.

But at least I'll pass all my classes!!!111!

I did alright my first college semester. Two A's and three B's.

What's ****ed up is one of those classes went from a 96 to 88 because of the FINAL assignment. My teacher is a complete asshole so it's not like i didn't see it coming.

Yes, this semester was terrible. 16 credit hours. It looks like I'm getting A/A-/A-/B+ probably, which honestly isn't bad for all the **** I went through. Hoping that doesn't drop me below a 3.8 though.

I'm so pumped for next semester though. Only 9 hours in class and 3 online.

Why is there no HS thread? I don't think it's appropriate to post this here but I've been getting a lot of emails from universities asking me to apply and even fee waivering my application. Some have also partially filled my application for me. I asked where they're getting my information from and a university replied telling me they've gotten my profile from CollegeBoard even though I specifically said no to that Search Service program. Apparently CB sends your profile and your SAT scores even if you don't sign up for that service program.

I don't plan on actually applying to any of these unis (especially the ones with 30% acceptance rate ) but has anyone of you gotten these emails? If you have, did you ever complete their application/use the "advancements?"

I tried everything to get myself that I ended up getting B-, it's frustrating.

I did SO MUCH better than I thought. I had expected literally a 50% final mark in Accounting, and I'm going into the final with a guaranteed 63% (or C) I can actually still get an A+ (but that's unlikely.) An A- is more realistic.

I was told this semester was miserable, but I survived. Somehow.

Yes I used to get hundreds
of emails a day. They've destroyed my inbox and I'm too lazy to delete them. Since app season has started and deadlines have passed they've started to trickle down now though. I haven't used any of their benefits since I already had a college list.

All those colleges that you think are way out of reach because of those low acceptance rates are emailing you because they want you to apply with maybe a waiver and reject you. Dead serious about this. That way they keep their ~prestige~ standing because they reject a lot of people.

This was my first semester ever and i'm already going to flop at one class

I'm taking a Bach in Computer Science and the class that i'm flopping at is ironically Computer Systems Architecture, it's so boring and time consuming

That's exactly what I thought. Fee waivered and already filled apps, so sketchy. I'm just upset at how CB didn't respect my decision.

I got my Chem grade up to a 79% and I have to get higher than a D+ and it will raise my grade to a B


My Pre-Calc exam should be pretty easy, I have to get a 75% or higher to get a 95% course total.

My Biology class doesn't make sense. He doesn't do a normal percentage system. Everything is points and it like totals up to 1360 total points for the course but anyway, I had a 88% and he told me that if I got an A on my last test I'd get a 89% and then I'd have to get an A on the final. But then I got an A on the test and my grade went down a percent and he told me it's not possible for me to get an A. I cried and told him I needed this grade and he told me that he's going to drop everyone's lowest test score so I'm super relieved since my lowest test score was a 50% because I forgot about it during Tennis Regionals all weekend.

But I'm at least guaranteed to pass all my courses this semester . Now I only have to take Biology 102, Pre-Calc Trig, and take a CLEP test for French and I'll have my AAS.



I also got my letter back from Harvard when I applied Early Action and I was deferred. Do you think I have a good shot of getting in if I was deferred to regular admission? I'm retaking the ACT and taking 2 SAT subject tests just to make sure.

I'm not sure about the statistics about how many of the deferred get into RD but definitely show them that you are really still interested. What I mean is - yes, try to improve your scores, polish your app more, write an additional essay, get an additional recommendation, and write a letter to admissions about the deferral and say that you are still interested and that Harvard is still your "#1".

Alright thanks! I've already talked to the alumni who interviewed me and told me that I was the only person he's interviewed that hasn't been denied yet and he's going to write a letter of recommendation as well (he offered).

I'm going to ask the chair of the Math/Science department at my college for a recommendation since he's had me as a student and knows my journey and everything from starting at 14. I'm just hoping to pull higher than a 31 on the ACT this time and do well on the SAT tests. I'll have to get on writing a letter to Harvard but I really appreciate the advice!

I'm taking human anatomy, which at my school is supposed to be wicked hard. Most people take it by itself and still barely scrape by a C

My scholarship is contingent upon my course load, so unless I take 15 credits each semester I lose it

What was your score breakdown for the ACT? Any weak points?
