False. Nicki said herself we are getting a mixtape. And Gee Roberson (her manager) said the plan is to have new music out sometime next year. I can def see an album towards the end of the 2016 or another Q2 release of 2017. But def not DEEP into 2017.

If we're getting an album next year then there's no point of releasing a mixtape. Personally, I think she should just release random remixes on SC throughout 2016 (but I know in her Billboard interview she said she's doing the mixtape to remind female rappers the importance of mixtapes so I understand Nicki's reasoning).
There's a point in releasing a mixtape either way.
A mixtape will showcase her spitting abilities + she won't choose commercial tracks for it so people can see that this bitch is still a rap force.
She needs to get people thirsty for a new Nicki album like Nicki did with BMUS and her 2010 features. The hype for Roman Reloaded was there but she killed it off with Stupid Hoe, the Roman Holiday performance and Starships. Now the Pinkrpint had a good direction, but Pills N Potions kinda killed a lot of the hype she had been building up. I hope NM4 goes well
