Mariah's voice has changed which is natural. But that Rockefeller thing of 2014 wasn't the average stage of her voice. It was one of the low points. Idk the reasons why it happened on live TV. but fact is that her voice gets stronger when she performs more. Her voice is still repair-able. it can still get to a point to sound like 60% of her peak imo. Her tone is also still there.
I find it odd that some ppl want to wallow in every bad aspect that surrounds her.
also the - change your music argument is utterly crap. Mariah is Mariah and when people fall out of love with her original self, then so be it. MIAM was a once in a lifetime album. Pure bliss from start to finish. so when ppl say she should change and probably sing edm dance numbers then i believe those ppl have never really understood what mariah stands for and is all about.
Mariah is an R&B artist. She sure could spice up her sound a little (like in Meteorite), but her music will always be R&B flaboured Pop.
I can understand that in a world where trends are more important than artistic integrity and aristry that people jump ship at any given times and back on board when an artist is back on top, but people who are that way should really look for therapy because in my opinion such behaviour shows a deep disconnection with ones soul and feelings.

It's her technique more than anything, and Taste of Honey will agree as well.
She used to sing so much from her mask resonators, using her nasal passages in her early career. That gives her beautiful, bright resonance, and a ring that seems unending as she goes higher in tone.
But in the last recent years, she seems to be more glottal, and uses her throat even more, which gives her that crystal clear chest tone, yet, her D5+ notes are non-existant.
Downside is that she will always sound as if she's choking on something, or as if something is in her throat.
The belts are still there, it's just that "she's singing around" her nodules as she said.
