Very well said  Do you think live renditions used in Les mis made a significant difference ? Even if she were to take on musicals in future, i think she still needs to tackle a dramatic role to prove her chops. Her celebrity persona would work against otherwise. U can just imagine all the wasps jumping to conclusions b4 we get as much as a teaser nvr mind a theatrical release.

I think the live aspect of Les Mis definitely helped. I think if you're singing but mouthing along to your own recording that likely was polished in a studio, it takes away from the reality and emotion of a performance, which is really what audiences and critics are looking for these days (even though she did it in Cadillac Records and it was great).
I don't mind her doing a dramatic non-singing role but I'm just really here for her combining all her talents to make a truly slaying performance which in itself would be iconic. Imagine a movie with Beyoncé as the lead where she is singing, dancing, and acting her heart out the entire time!

"My Family", "Selena", "Out of Sight", "An Unfinished Life", "Shall We Dance", "El Cantante" all received praise for her role regardless of what they thought of the overall film. But again, this isn't about Lopez.

Wow at everyone being so hardheaded here  Yeah she's not the best actress (still better than all of her pop female artist peers) and that's why she's getting acting classes, so she can improve and get better. Cause what Beyoncé has taught us is that hard work and determination can get you a long way. Maybe some of your faves should try it.

No shade, but she's proved herself many times already, and paved the way for other Latinas in Hollywood, and is still one of Hollywood's highest paid LEADING ladies. So I don't get the weak "celebrity" shade.
But again, this is about Beyonce.

It's not shade. It's truth. She's a celebrity.
And she didn't pave no way for Latinas. Rita Moreno did more for Latinos than Jennifer could wish to do! Even Selena, with her short life, has had more impact and paved more ways! Giving her too much credit. 
And she hasn't been a leading lady in a respectable movie in I don't know how many YEARS. Totally an "A-list Leading Actress"...

You're right. That was not my question because I did not ask a question. I was making a statement.
Including her in a list of great actors makes it about her. Simply put, she doesn't belong.  So, yeah, you made it about her. And therefore, we discussed it.

It was a bit suspect to call only one of them out, in response to a J.Lo fan though.
But I agree she doesn't really belong alongside that list of people mentioned.
