It doesn't have as much replay value as Wild, but conceptually it's miles ahead of anything else on the album.

OVERALL: Most of this album feels carried by the work of others: the aesthetic comes straight from a High School junior's Tumblr (a good one at least), the production ends up carrying a majority of the album and the basic Pop song structure is wildly overdone. That being said, Troye choose nothing bad. He sticks to the same formula throughout, and it works. The hooks and blatant desire for radio success should be overwhelming, but Troye's confidence and introverted boldness makes the album work. Make no mistake, Blue Neighborhood is horribly one-dimensional, but at least Troye choose a good dimension to work with.

I mean I kinda figured this. WILD seems so much more radio-ready than Happy Little Pill (the only two songs of his I've heard), I don't want to use the word "sell-out", but even for a non-fan like me the change was strikingly obvious.

I was really into Jeff Bhasker back in 2011 (he was on Some Nights, Perfectionist, 4, and Born to Die) and then Taylor worked with him on Her holiest song "Holy Ground."

And Jack Antonoff is in fun and he produced Brave and Sweeter Than Fiction and I loved them so much. And then Lord tweeted I Wanna Get Better and I was OBSESSED and then She worked with him on Her greatest opus "Out of the Woods."




I've been really into Ariel Rechtshaid (Haim, Brandon Flowers, "All That"), so he is CLEARLY coming on TS6.

Wild is probably his poppiest song tbh.

And the word sell out definitely does not apply here. Sonically and thematically, the album feels like the natural progression from TRXYE.

A lot of things are better than Carly.

For an album with the definition of the word "emotion" on its cover, it manages to make me feel a whole lot of nothing. IRLY is the only song on the album whose lyrics are actually distinct enough for me to even remember, and I don't even really like the song. The entire album goes in one ear and right out the other. It says nothing to me.

"All That" being the obvious exception. Reminds me of the masterpiece "Crazy For You."
