I'm so excited for this to become a hit, what's the chances of it possibly going number 1 next year?
Also hopefully after this they can also smash with Ride, Lane Boy, and Tear In My Heart.
Crossover hits basically never go #1 cause the act of crossing over takes too much time. So they have a nice longevity, but not the high peaj needed to go #1.
Top 10 would be amazing tough and that seems possible
But specifically alternative-to-pop, and, say, top 10 on both formats, then Royals it the last one.
From this decade the only other possibilities are Somebody That I Used to Know and We Are Young (except I can't remember if they took off on alternative before pop).

Yeah okay. But when talking about Hot 100 high peak chances the other format to pop crossovers are the only important ones.
STIUTK and We Are Young were also both played on alternative 3 months before they were added to pop.
So it does happen occasionally, more often that I thought without really thinking about it and looking it up. Maybe there is hope for Stressed Out
Yeah, but when I mean "crossover" I refer to all those Urban/ALT/Mainstream Rock/Country songs which were very sucessful on their home formats thay clicked pretty well to Pop Audience.

Exactly what a crossover is for me too.
Alternative we have those 3 listed above.
Country crossover hasn't gone #1 on the Hot 100 in ages. Probably because Country is such a big format.
Urban happens I guess?
Rock doesn't happen I guess?

Exactly, what's funny about a Pop song crossing over to other formats? The other formats are flop compared to Pop, so why bother and why such a big deal.
I think last Mainstream Rock #1 hit was around in 2001

Nickelback hit #1 in early 2002 with "How You Remind Me." After that I remember "Boulevard Of Broken Dreams" and "Photograph" reaching #2 in 2005-very early 2006, then Hinder's "Lips Of An Angel" reached #3 late in 2006. Three Doors Down's "When I'm Gone" hit the Top Five in 2003, and had amazing Hot 100 longevity. All of these songs reached #1 in spins at Top 40 radio. Shinedown's "Second Chance" reached #7 on the Hot 100 and #3 on Top 40 radio in 2009, and that was the last Active Rock to Top 40 crossover we have had. Imagine Dragonīs "Radioactive" crossed over to Active Rock from Alternative before crossing over to Top 40, so it does not count.
Speaking of crossovers, this need to cross over to POP already. It's currently charting in 4 formats.
Coldplay is a Pop act without Pop radio support Serving new artist tea.

Don't forget Shut Up + Dance. It was on Alternative like 6 months before it crossed over
