Anyways yes, let's get back on topic. I heard Target is gonna remove the sweater from its stores, wow @ the influence.

Cute.
Anyway, good for her. I'm sure she's happy in her safe place now

As someone with OCD I can see this persons point. It's not funny when people try to downplay OCD as just a qwerty thing. It made my life hell for years before I got diagnosed and put on meds. Some people see OCD as just some minor thing for just being clean but it's more than that.

So you're saying you actually got diagnosed unlike most people in this thread and you actually agree with her? Interesting waiting for all the people who were werking the X, Y, and Z argument.

I'm sorry you went through that. I haven't personally dealt with OCD but I've seen enough people struggle with it to know OCD is not just a minor annoyance at all. That is indeed one misconception that really needs to go.

Some people just like to make up excuses for their weaker character flaws. And Americans especially are notorious for misdiagnosing children and giving them a bunch of meds.
If people are sensitive to it, target should take it down. But it looks like she's on her own on this one.

Yep its not even classified as a real mental illness in most cases people just self-diagnose what activates their OCD and then use this ocd excuse to get themselves out if working on their issue with it. There are a few severe cases tho but easy to deal with.

I personally have no problem with the shirt but I see her point. I have a girl at work who claims she OCD because she is clean and it kinda pisses me off. She's bragging about being clean but I really have it and had a breakdown because of it. I'm not very clean but in obsessed with symmetry, colors, couldn't touch people's hands for like two years, was afraid to touch doorknobs for like 3 years, and intrusive thoughts which was the worst part about OCD. Without meds I couldn't leave my house for weeks without fear.
Each person feels different ways about their illness and different things offend us with mental health problems. I wouldn't downplay her reaction because mine is different.
Edit omg I feel a little emotional about this for some reason. Im welling up a little in my accounting class

This. For some people it really can be debilitating and this trivialises it.
But "SJWs!!1! Hew cares IRL?!" I guess.

And the whole "censoring offends me" was the exact conservative reaction when Starbucks made their cups red for the Holiday season if you actually get offended by censoring (didn't quite get whether you were being hypothetical or not), then congrats, you're a potential member of the Republican party.

um isnt that kinda the same thing these people are saying
she's offended, obviously the rest of us aren't offended so

Omg honey it's okay, progressives get you and we're here to stand with you against anyone who tries to not take your mental disorder, or any mental disorder seriously.
And to me, the people's hands stuff, doorknobs, and the intrusive thinking seems like this is very very serious, I feel bad to whoever genuinely believes that OCD isn't serious and that we can make fun of it in any shape, form, or way.

This. It's because of people like this girl who are trivializing it.
EDIT: For example, from the amount of people who "suffer from OCD" you would think at least 60% of the world has the disorder, when in actuality less than 3% of the total world's population is affected.

And where have I heard this before? Sounds oddly familiar.

Mess at someone actually saying that. Do people not understand that everyone experiences things different from one another? Even how we measure and precieve time is subjective. If something as fundamental and ordinary as time is different to each individual person, how are people going to sit up on their high horse and say that girl is oversensitive, censoring "free expression" (what even?), and just bitching over nothing when she could truly have a mental illness that she struggles with daily? Where's the logic? It's not like she went and said "Everyone boycott target Now!". It looks like she was walking around target looking for clothes, noticed this and posted it on her twitter like anyone normal person would have.
The things people say on this site these days to be "edgy" with shade/dragging or "fit in" is lame. It's like as soon as you say something critiquing anything happening in society that isn't immediately life threatening, someone is flinging the "SJW" word around like it's the Salem Witch Trials of 2015. Give it a rest.

People die due to their OCD so I totally understand where people are coming from.

I paid her twitter a visit, and there are little to no mentions of her struggling with OCD, which actually affects less than 3% of the entire population. I doubt she's ever been diagnosed with OCD, and therefore she does not suffer from it, because anyone that does usually needs serious help. The only one trivializing a mental disorder is her.
