We clearly don't know a lot about the charracter. Why ?
1. Maybe because the writers are bad or Will Drake is simply a filler character.
2. Maybe because we are NOT supposed to know more about him, until later on.
He is the new Hotel owner nad he said this place "inspired" him. he also had the old/original drawings of the hotel and it's structure so he must know something for sure.
And also I've studied Storytelling and the parallels are there.
But John also makes a lot of sense, I am not saying WD is definitely the 10ck or anything, I am just saying that it's not stupid, especially if they explain it well.
For all we know Will Drake may end up being Mrs Evers kidnapped son or something.... whith a really big motif
