Pre-orders count towards the first day of an album's release. It's essentially holding an album for a consumer until it's ready to be released.

Adele will still snatch the record and other records.

Is this even a record outside of the Hive? No shade, legitimately curious. It doesn't seem like an actual record of any importance since the album was only available digitally. If Adele or Taylor only released digitally, they would easily snatch it anyways.

You aren't charged for the album until it's released, so even if it's preordered it could still technically be the fastest selling album since everyone is still purchasing it after its released..
