As you all know, Fifth Harmony and Little Mix were both formed on editions of The X-Factor. They're the epitomes of manufactured girl groups, as they're both comprised of solo singers put together into a collective. Why is it, then, that Little Mix is on their third album, with plans to 'crack the US' next year, and no rumors of internal strife ...

... while, by most accounts, Fifth Harmony won't make it out of 2016 without at least one member departing?

What's good, ATRL? Are American artists more driven by ego? I am confused.

Fifth Harmony didn't.

Perrie is the main girl of Little Mix, yet she doesn't go around secretly recording collaborations.

Little Mix were able to adapt and use their shared determination to become superstars to drive them. It was like that for Fifth Harmony at first [and it has been gradual bc it took them a while to cope w/ the fact that they're not 5 solo artists and just one unit] but the internal conflict seemed to be more personal than it is musical... until now.

This is not true and I wish people would stop saying that. They were close and each other's sisters/rock/bffs up until March 3, 2015.

Some of 5H are thirsting to be solo, but the girls of LM know that their success is based on their teamwork. I can see solo music from Little Mix, but these girls know they need to be bigger and bigger before they can secure such a feat. It always helps the cement the group thing before venturing out solo.

It's a fair point to make though, and everyone knows Ace loves a girl group.

Little Mix are genuinely friends it seems and the chemistry really shows. That's not to say 5H haven't formed some friendships but there is a clear problem between the "lead" and the rest, just like Pussycat Dolls (but obviously not as bad)

No one in Little Mix is really greedy to be the main girl and that's what I love about them.

UK Industry is a lot more relaxed in general, the artists there don't have trust issues like they do in America. I feel for anyone who has to grow up in the American industry and learn things the hard way. You're only protected if you come in safely with people backing you, in the way that Little Mix/Ellie Goulding /a million others have. My bet is that the 5H girls have different people telling them different things, and people are trying to be a part of Camilla's apparently inevitable solo career before it even happens.
