Both of them took about 3 years to make and put out their records, literally every artist worth a damn tries and scrapes a ton of music before a full release. Grimes' just didn't happen to throw out an arbitrary number like Carly did.
There is almost no way you can use the argument of so and so worked harder against Grimes' when she did everything including production, vocals, learning and playing multiple instruments, songwriting, directing her own videos, and making her own artwork.
Like the only way Grimes' could do more is if she sat in a sweatshop pressing her own vinyls
They are both great albums but I'd give it to Grimes for not only being more ambitious but also the sheer amount of shelf involvement.
