I don't see the fuss these big artists make about spotify. People will be buying the album regardless and those who already won't buy are going to get a copy by piracy if you're gonna make it harder to stream. Just my two cents.

Please inform me on how it's "snobbish" and "money hungry" for an artist to want fair compensation for their work? The freeloaders that use free Spotify are the greedy ones and the reason why sales are abysmal. The gains in steaming revenue are freaking negligible but people are so quick to say "STREAMING MAKES MORE THAN SALES!1!1!" Like at this point, yeah it does because sales are literally in the toilet. It still doesn't make up for the drastic decline in overall revenue in the past decade. I mean this is the music BUSINESS. If you were an artist, why would you want to put your product you worked hard on onto a platform that could negatively affect your sales? I just don't see how Spotify is gonna last if they don't get rid of their free tier.

So you're saying to make Spotify only a paid service? Because a lot of people would simply just not use it anymore, I wouldn't either.

Paid subscribers only. Makes sense... It will still be on Spotify. Tbh more artists should do this. I pay for Spotify. It's only $10 a month for all that music right when it comes out.

Yes, I am. Or at least only make new releases available to paying subscribers, and make the freeloaders have to wait at least 2-3 months before making it available. Spotify doesn't want to seem to budge, even for the industry's top artists. As far as morality goes, I just don't see how Free Spotify is any better than pirating music. Sure, you may contribute to your fave's chart points, but you're still not REALLY supporting them unless you buy their material like the world did up until this past decade.

Free users have to listen to ads, and those ads produce revenue that the artist gets a cut of. Obviously it's not nearly as much as the premium revenue, but it's still more than pirating, which gets the artist nothing.

Artists got to realize that it's either ad-supported free streaming or piracy. When you're at the scale of Adele even revenue from free streaming is going to be a lot. And the people who wouldn't pay for streaming wouldn't pay for albums either.
