As once part of Aaliyah "fanclub", these people are simply salty that she's dead tbh. Bey is in their crosshair because she's black, her relationship with Jay-Z, the timing of death (DC's Survivor), their music (R&B) and
overall she's on top of the game.
It's the same reason people pit popgirls against each other all the time to prove their taste is the best.
I think Aaliyah had potential but she was in no way any better than Bey at the time.
