Bupsi could have been managed much better and she could have made a huge impact last night. She screams Dolores Van Cartier/Sister Mary Clarence from Sister Act and Reno/Vegas lounge singer to me.
The best they can do is give her those big Tina Turner/Aretha Franklin tunes (cliche, I know, but it works for her), give her plots and scenarios to work with onstage and give her a slightly more subtle look in terms of hair and makeup.
It's a pity because she's much more entertaining than Reggie 'N' Pronounce Your Words Please and Max, who's considerably good but is still a bit of a dud at the same time.
I agree that there's something about Monica that is unlikable, but she's got it. Everything about her performance was flawless.
Can we talk about how great Ben Haenow was though?
I was totally sold on that song/performance.
