Okay, here's mine. The meter is kind of messed up in parts especially the outro but i think with artists like Florence especially, it's more about the concepts and the content than the craft. The structures of her songs are usually very weird and cluttered, but her voice and "The Machine" and her melodies just make it work. Her lyrics are more about telling a story than being catchy or flowing well, though some of them do both of those very well. Or is this all just a misdirection so the judges will give me a better score? Stay tuned.
ceremonials
verse 1:
A man who's pure of heart
Is a man who's free of sin
How could a man be faithful
If he let the Devil in?
Into a village full of priests
And of other worldly saints
The heresy had been unspoken
And so they tied him down with chains
Chorus:
He was a martyr, frozen in space
Like a warrior, the blood on his face
Like an angel, fallen from grace
A heretic, burned at the stake
The smoke cleared
He shouted out testimonials
Of an innocent man
And his lonely ceremonials
Verse 2:
Now the devil walks in the streets
And nobody even has a clue
Because he looks like all of us
It could be me or it could be you
The devil of the town was born
As soon as they struck the match
They saw the inferno in his eyes
And knew they couldn't go back
Chorus 2x
Outro:
So where is your God, now?
Will he answer you,how?
Could you watch your village burn down?
Who's a heretic now?
Is it making sense now?
That all your saints are on trial?
Who's the devil here now?
That you're on trial
Waiting til the flames burn out
