The jacket would be unzipped on the runway. The look would be complete with a blonde, poofy wig and silver metallic make-up (some examples seen here and here.
I think disco is a fantastic representation of my best drag. My drag is inspired by my interests: music, divas and bygone eras; the boogie, fun and movement of life. In the same way that disco makes comebacks, my drag draws from the past to make statements for the present. I translate vaudeville burlesque, Broadway theater and old Hollwood glamour of the past to the present day. This outfit takes 1970s disco to 2015 fashion week runways; I turn the beat around and make it my own. |

It’s been three months since I wandered into Games on a whim and signed up for this game because it was hosted by a Cher stan (I cannot stress how few of us there are here). I knew next to nothing about drag, but it was summer and I had free time, so why not? I had no idea what kind of rabbit hole I had fallen down. It’s been a gauntlet with fun, work, laughter, stress, fierceness and friendship. Drag Race has been a wonderland and a journey, and I would like to be ATRL’s next drag superstar.
I’ve learned so much since I started this game. I knew nothing of drag outside of Paris is Burning before I began and I've since watched all seven seasons of RuPaul’s Drag Race, made a drag dictionary and actually lip synced for my life. I've adapted to challenges completely outside of my comfort zone. I gave a well-received roast when comedy was well outside of my expertise. I delivered a creative, winning graphics entry when I knew absolutely nothing of graphic design before. In one of my favorite parts of this competition, I was even able to bond with a new queen and help her develop her drag persona. The competition has come full circle, and though my drag career has just begun, I feel prepared to take ATRL and the world by storm.
I stumbled along the way, sure. I was in the bottom three four times and I lip synced twice, but I persevered. Life isn’t defined by the mistakes you make, but how you recover from them. I didn't let my shortcomings defeat me; I stuck through it and learned. My times in the bottom helped me improve as a queen in ways that I wouldn’t have otherwise. I came back stronger when I fell short; I listened to the critiques and I grew.
I’ve done a lot in my time here. I’ve smoked hookahs with Udders, I’ve sung in the golden afternoon with Carrie, Koko, Essie and Carmen and I’ve had all sorts of mad tea parties with Chanel. This game has allowed me to express myself in a way I didn't know I was missing. I've made memories and relationships here that I hope to keep for a long time to come, and I’ve enjoyed every moment to this point.
I feel that I’m ATRL’s next drag superstar because I'm adaptable and well-rounded. I combine the camp and charisma that Carrie has with the glamour and polish that Chanel has. I’ve displayed the charisma to get along with almost everyone in the game. I've displayed the nerve to persevere in rough times. I've displayed the uniqueness to stand out as the competition’s premier Southern burlesque drag queen. I've displayed the talent to adapt and grow.
ATRL's Drag Race was the bottle I drank without a care. It's been a wonderland of new experiences, and it's changed me in the best way. I've extended my identity, learned new skills, made new friends and developed a love for drag. I am ready and able to tackle whatever lies ahead as ATRL's next drag superstar, and I hope you agree. |

Carrie Messiah
Quote:
Carrie Messiah enters the stage to the intro of AIWFCIY, you know, that pleasant sound of bells that prepares you for the slayage to come. Her head is bowed (forgive my drawing of a bowed head ) until the singing starts.
She reaches the front of the stage, lifts her head, and sings the intro. When the music picks up around the :50 mark, she tears off the robe to reveal her Christmas eleganza dress beneath:
This is Carrie's best drag, a red sequence dress that can be worn all year round, but is especially appropriate for the Holiday season. After all, Carrie is inspired by the real Queen of Christmas, MC. Plus, her last name is Messiah! What better way is there to honor the birth of Jesus than with a LS to the greatest Christmas song of all time??
The dress is floor-length and form-fitting, and the ensemble is made complete with long red gloves and the diamond accessories (choker and bracelet). In honor of Santa's big white beard, Carrie dons her big white wig for these performances. And you can't see them here, but her silver shoes sometimes peek out when she's running across the stage.
Throughout the pages of ATRL, you hear the cry: “I wanna see the receipts!” This time, you all already have the receipts. You know that I’ve won a couple challenges, placed “high" a few times, and am the only contestant to have never been in the Bottom 2. On paper, these stats look great. But in the end, I know the numbers don’t matter: the performance does.
My first win was for a group challenge in which I jumped in head first, wrote, and recorded a song so iconique that my roommate still occasionally sings it in the shower. Other girls tried to knock my effort, saying I was doing too much, but I’ve never had that attitude toward this game: as the results show, I worked my hardest in every challenge, showed off my creativity, and made the judges laugh along the way.
My second win was for the Snatch Game, which is a challenge that everyone was looking forward to, and in which the stakes were higher than ever before. It’s true that every win is important, but I think that in the end, a win in a challenge like Snatch Game—which shows creativity, dedication, and nerve—is more impressive than a win based on popularity or Photoshop skill.
In fact, all of my “Win” and “High” weeks for for challenges that involved creativity and a more complex final product. It’s nice to be pretty, or popular, or talented in certain technical aspects, but my track record proves that Carrie Messiah is a queen with imagination and heart for days decades! Even in areas where I don't excel—such as singing or drawing (see above)—I've showed the nerve and charisma to try new things and take chances.
And I think I’ve excelled in an important area that doesn’t show up in the statistics: I’ve proven myself to be a team player and a gracious queen. I’ve stepped up in group challenges, helped out other queens in individual challenges, and never started drama or considered dropping out.
I’m the only queen in the finale with the receipts, the high-quality product, and the personality of a queen worthy of the crown, and it would mean so much to be crowned ATRL’s Next Drag Superstar. And I promise that if I win, I will use the $100,000 prize to promote—wait! Ain’t no prizes?!

Chanel DiAngelo

Chanel DiAngelo presents...
The Final Runway
Best Drag
For my final runway, I went with something that, although has the potential to be critiqued for being basic, represents me as Chanel perfectly. Poised and classic with a touch of 1950's vintage flare, the dress combines black and gold, one of my personal favorite combinations, with all the accessories being Chanel (and why wouldn't they be?). Paired with this wig and editorially-dark makeup, the look isn't just simple; it's Simply Chanel.
Final Words
This game has meant a lot to me, in many different ways. I've loved Drag Race for years now, and I always looked up to the show. The idea of competing in it was a dream I know many people have, but few ever competed. I know this is a game on ATRL; I've always known it. But it's likely the closest I'll ever get to competing on Drag Race, and I'm content with that. The game started as an opportunity to emulate playing in the show itself, which, at the start, was all I really needed. I was happy to have fun and compete. But as things went on, the game became more and more important to me. This game came up right at a time I needed it. I needed the validation that the wins and success have made me feel. I needed the comfort and tenderness of the friendships I've made. I needed the outlet of my vents and personal struggles. All of those things have been lacking in my real life in various ways for various reasons, and so this game has become something I've poured my heart into because of that.
This entire competition may have had moments where I was disappointed, moments that upset me, or stressed me out, and I definitely regret things I've done throughout it, whether it be getting into a fight with someone or not doing more that I could for others, but I think it's made me strong and helped me see a lot about myself that I'm working on improving on. Most of you know the story I told about the issues with my past friend group, and the things that happened with them; and like I told Citrus in the answer to my questions, I think that event has left a lasting negative impact on me, and I haven't quite been in the best place ever since. I thought I'd been getting better, both as a person and mentally, but as the game unfolded, I started to see more of the issues I realize I had back then. However, I think this game has helped me see that more so than my hypocritical "friends" turning on me has, and I've done a lot of reflecting in my time here.
I know I have tons and tons of work to do with that, but I feel I've come a long way and will continue to make progress, and winning this competition would push me further. Winning this competition and being ATRL's Next Drag Superstar would represent the changes I've been making and will continue to make. It would be a new start for me; one of progress, one of happiness and one of validation. As I said earlier, all three of those have been lacking in my life for the last year and a half, and I've been fighting hard to get them back, but nothing has made me feel as close to them as this game has. And in that, I've shown my drive and how fierce of a competitor I can be. I want this. I need this. And I deserve this. Happiness is still a while away for me, but winning this would be the start of that journey.
Thank you for your consideration.

I probably should've focused more on my individual accomplishments in the game, but I figured the judges already know what I've done throughout the game & my chart run already spoke for me on that.

Omg, I was just going through the thread the other day, just so show my roommate some of Citrus' puns. We SCREAMED at the Yuri Null elimination when CitRu was like, "You started out with #1, but your entries lately have been serving #2" or something like that

You are a MRS KESHA DAVIS fan what r u talking about. It cost him at least 1,500 to use her image and I have no doubt in my mind that he made up the quote from her to avoid having to pay her because he could never afford it. And YES - I'm definitely docking your score because of this, FEFE

Sent my final judging. This Final 3 gave me a very strong Season 2 tea and I feel confident I made the correct decision.

Carrie is Tyra since she has never been in the bottom 2, so she is the winner
