You don't lose legend status. MJ didn't lose it, Whitney didn't lose it and Mariah certainly didn't.
I actually disagree with you about the 7/11s, too. If there was any time to do songs like that, it's now. She built up her fan base through her 20s, proved her talent, and built her brand. Now she's still young but established moreso than basically all of her peers and can afford to do whatever she wants while she's still young.
In five or six years she can smash with ballads but she won't as easily smash with Partitions and 7/11s as she does now.
Someone needs to recreate that "lies GaGa has told" gif for Bey like the armie did with gif of Brit laughing.
