Do some you even watch anime? non Asian characters look blatantly different. Stop with the blue eyes, blonde hair bull... Tell me one person who has naturally purple/ pink/ red/ white/yellow eyes
Character's hair and eyes are designed for aesthetic not realism.
Case in point:
Center: Rin Matsuoka (Japanese)
Left and Right: Rin's Australian home-stay parents
It amazes me how yellow skinned blue haired people can be read as "white," in a Western cartoon series . . .
And yet many (Western) people struggle to accept xyz anime characters as being Asian/Japanese if they have pale skin, and blonde, blue, purple, pink, whatever fantastical eye or hair color .
And to japanese people he'd be asian and not white

I will never think of Sailor Moon as being an actual Japanese girl. The only one who is Japanese to me is Rei.

I've already explained to you why people will continue to think they aren't Asian. The size of their eyes, and array of fantastical hair colors, won't change the way people perceive them. And that is majority white. Hi_im_new already pointed out the creator of Naruro designed him for mass consumption. That means white.
