I also don't really think you can compare Adele now to 21. There was no hype around Adele at the time Loud came out. She was only beginning to grow and grow and by the time Someone Like You was released in the US, Rih was releasing WFL. But now the hype for Adele is so massive because she's so gigantic throughout the entire world...its just crazy really, so Adele is going to dominate on all fronts from the get go- from today. From the charts perspective it's whatever, but overall as far as the spotlight it's frustratingly sad.

I agree with half of this post.

First of all Hello is cute but it's not Adele's strongest compared to her other works.
The video is stunning tho.
It's just the hype that is just getting to people's head.

But i do agree on Rih missing a big opportunity. She could've own 2015, there was no other pop girl doing anything big really. And she waits till her peers come back to release.

I really don't care about the overshadow part, as long as my fave is still relevant, releases Anti and slaying i'm fine.

It's just that it would've been nice to see her dominating by herself.

Adele would overshadow ANYONE at this point. Sure, it would've been nice but I just don't care about that anymore, I guess.
I just know I'll be the most excited I was this year when ANTi is finally released, which is happening in the next weeks. I don't care about other's excitement, I care about myself and it's not hurting me anymore. I don't even care. It's just gonna be me and the album tbh, and I'll love it.

That's why i was so surprised when UNA went #1 because reading the comments under the snippets video, people were disliking most of the songs because of the tragic voice edit.

I don't think we should use the 2011/2012 Rihanna-Adele scenario as some point of comparison at all tho... Back then, Adele didn't have the hype of a 30MWW sold album behind her like she does right now. Also, Rihanna wasn't doing this weird ass 'little by little'-silent treatment kind of era. Her ship was tighter then. Then you have to consider the overall decline of album sales. Yes, they can co-exist but the dynamics are not even remotely the same.

Rih could maybe still execute this era decently in the long run but all this worry about #1 albums, first week sales, promo. She still outchea recording the album 3 singles and music videos in. The era is so past that point . Be happy when you get the album then log off of ATRL because it will be a mess.
