Basically. The Grammys are a better indicator of
acceptability within the industry. Critical acclaim isn't really a factor. It makes sense to an extent, as people probs wouldn't take the Grammys seriously if the likes of either Tame Impala (unknown to most of the GP) or Kesha (mostly reviled by the GP) started winning. They have to preserve their clout by picking the safest possible option.
Occasionally the critics and the Grammy committees
do line up, though. E.g. Royals, Random Access Memories, Katy consistently being shut out, etc, but on the whole they're not a good metric of anything.
