The viewers demands haven't done squat, this happened in the comics and that was written many years ago. I'm guessing this is your first episode of TWD if you don't know these action-packed episodes are part of the DNA of this show, this isn't forced, it's an organic progression that's been unfolded since they left the prison and it's the wake-up call they've been warning the Alexandrians about this whole time.
