I actually thought Scarlett was fine. Child actors aren't going to bring it in a role that's not been created to. She's not pivotal from what we know, but she still left more of a presence than Lachlan and the Little Monsters. She was good.
Soooo excited for ep2. They need to bring it with this episode, make it as good as the first one. In FS the second episode was kinda underwhelming.
Since 'Chutes and Ladders' is as long as a casual movie, I'm here for epic scenes with amazing soundtrack again. They really outdid themselves with impeccable soundtrack in last episode
There's just something about the girl who plays Scarlet that didn't convince me (enough). Should've gotten the girl who got scared by Twisty in Freak Show. Now that was a lasting impression.

Hayden McClaine did also die outside of the house so I guess this is legit.
Hm but she died on the compound which is part of the house (that was why Jessica Lange was trying to pull Jamie into the MH compound, the whole house is...."cursed" (?)). Sally died on a street outside of the hotel.
From Reddit: So I am not 100% sure that this is true, and y'all might already know this theory. The guests are trapped inside the hotel because they did not follow any of the Ten Commandments.
Iris "killed" Sally (Thou shalt not kill), Donovan did drugs while his mom was chasing him (Thou shalt honor thy mother and father), and especially: Gabriel said I love you to Sally, despite not knowing her at all (Thou shalt not bear false witness). I guess the rest are pretty obvious (Thou shalt not kill or Thou shalt not commit adultery). I guess John has to avoid doing small things like lying or using God's name in vain now.
They were fine and served their purpose of creepy/cute
