I think she's a contrast to the Addiction Demon, Sally and other villains that are residing in the Hotel. Maybe possibly she's of good nature, just a little crazy.

Erika was irrelevant to freak show sis. Jyoti slayed and scalped in every scene she was in and I'm sure most AHS fans feel the same way.
