And another hour later I've finally finished all 21. I've already used almost the entire score spectrum, with my scores ranging from 1-9 (there were 2 9's). The interludes generally ranked higher than the intros, perhaps because there seemed to be less interludes than intros. For those of you that have yet to submit, here's a few pieces of advice based on what I've read so far
- Have some form of structure in your song. While this round allows you to have much less structure than usual, make sure it's there or else your song will seem like more of a poem.
- Flow is important. I gave one song with pretty generic lyrics a really high score simply because it had a unique, groovy flow that I fell in love with.
- Make sure you follow the challenge. Even if your song is pretty basic, if I think it works well as an intro it will get a few extra points.
- Make your song interesting. A typical love or breakup song won't work well for this challenge. The intro should set up the themes of the album to follow. When I read your intro or interlude I should already have an idea of what the album that follows will sound like and the types of songs I'd hear on it. Make sure your vision for your song is clear and is communicated clearly.
