Britney wanted it personally, in fact she wanted it to be the lead single but Jive turned down the idea and compromised for the 4th single rather.
Wrong. Britney didn't want it as the first single, and wanted "Toxic" second. So since she got those choices she agreed for it to be 4th. R. Kelly is the one who was pushing Jive to release it.
