With the way sales are dying her next era's single sales will be low-key tragic. Let's hope she releases good videos next era to maintain her streaming power, tragedies like the Birthday video are unacceptable

Digital singles sales kind of died at the top of 2014, wasn't Ariana Grande's Problem one of the last huge digital sellers? Idk. I saw an Ari stan claim that once.

Regardless, she needs to focus on streaming next era. Not sales. She's already done well enough in singles sales. She's lucky she had Roar and DH in 2013 before sales took a nosedive.

Roar still sounds fresh for me.

Truly this is one of the classic from 2013 along with Dark Horse, but the lead is better.

I can't decide if Roar is her best lead single.

Btw I can imagine her self-destruction era a la Born This Way if she would've released Dark Horse instead of Roar.

I don't think Katy is going to get any 5M sellers anymore no matter how big she is or how great the songs are. I think 3M is the new 5M now. Maybe she could reach 4M, but I doubt it.

If you're talking about overall, I think Taylor Swift with Wildest Dreams. Maybe New Romantics in a future.

But Dark Horse thirst was bigger than WD and NR.

Whereas on 1989 release week, Blank Space debuted at #18, Style at #60, Wildest Dreams at #76 and Bad Blood at #80. These were all album tracks at that point. And they all became the singles.

The bonus tracks were all added to iTunes separately in Feb/March, and thus charted on Billboard... Wonderland at #51, You Are In Love at #83, New Romantics at #71. If any bonus track should be a single, it's Wonderland.

Anyway, Dark Horse was actually a promo single... it had exposure. It's not the same scenario.

Well, I pointed out WD and NW because they were the first to come to my mind looking for others artists, thus I don't know or remember about others who have had a similar situation.

I actually think DH being a promo single wasn't a "big" exposure for its success, I mean, it was played a lot early in radios so people liked it and they bought it. Even I had a friend of mine who I consider her part of GP because she doesn't freak out for Katy as much as me and she told me that DH was her best song, that's before of becoming a single.

Well, I got this as an experience, not like a receipts.
