I'm not sure I agree with Nirvana being #1. In fact, even though it's pretty much impossible to define "iconic", I think some of their criteria makes no sense. Why should a song's key and beats per minute help you decide whether or not it was iconic?

Of course you aren't expected to know every song on this list, some of these songs were hits 50 years ago. I hadn't heard Dancing Queen until last week, not because it isn't iconic, but just because I hadn't gotten around to listening to it
