The difference is that Lounge threads, in general are for discussion not related to other areas of ATRL. In contrast Blog post are almost the same thing but pertaining to a specific member. If the thread was opened and titled "Do you own fish?" advice on maintaining them was within the thread it would have stayed open. It's not what you do it's how you do it. The member made it in a way that the OP focused on him/her which makes it more like a Blog post.
