How would you fix the current American music business model?
Personally, I would stop new artists from releasing Deluxe Editions for their debuts. Such a waste. I would also focus on shorter eras with EPs instead of full fledged albums. For full albums, I would try to add more value to the physical edition versus the digital.

That's what I came here to say. I think it's a great idea.
Sweden (and all the other nordic countries + Spain and some others) market keeps increasing each year because they embraced Spotify (and other streaming platforms)
Why would i resolve lol it's not making any difference to my life. If anything i'm glad they are going down, maybe more artists will make more of an effort and stop thinking the public will buy up anything
Albums are really expensive considering you can just listen to them online (Majority of them)
I mean I buy my fave's music just for the sake of supporting them and then stream their albums but at this point there is no return for sales.
I would resolve it by signing talented interesting artists instead of filling iTunes with Viners & Youtubers "music".
I feel inclined to agree with this, but at the same time, wouldn't you (as an A&R) want to sign someone with an established fanbase? The difference between someone who buys an album and streams it might be the strength of the relationship between the artist and the fan.
they need to go back to 7/8 tracks on an album like back in the day so they can be less expensive. and if artists focused more on eras like Bey,Taylor, Adele and JT instead of the lead single people would be more excited about the whole project
