I was only coming in here to say the same thing. Took almost all vibrato out (no runs, either) and, as you said, she kept her vocals contained and delicate. Impressive.
The ability to adapt her vocals has been another nice feather in her cap over the past two albums. Only other pop girls who would even think of deliberately doing this are Clarkson, Gaga and JoJo.
