face. I agree that "Music" and "Hung Up" should have made that Pitchfork list, but come on Mazen, you can't deny the impact that songs like "Beautiful" or "Fallin'" had this decade. They stormed the charts in almost every country, they connected on a personal level with millions of people, and they're timeless. It only took one listen to recognize those songs were classics.

I don't think "Viva la Vida" should go anywhere near the top 5. Maybe "Clocks," but preferably no Coldplay songs at all. It should be based on more than just commercial success.

I LOVE all of these songs (except for the gay and ugly anthem by Aguilera, obviously

), but non of those were even close to being the ultimate highlights of this decade -- despite their success. I'd say "Irreplaceable", "Sexyback", "Can't Get You Out Of My Head", "Music" and "We Belong Together" are better examples of songs that were successful and had their impact on the music scene.

And Eli, I suppose I agree with you too. I was trying to think if VLV was worthy because "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" or "Bleeding Love" or "Crazy" would also be appropriate choices. It shouldn't be based entirely on success, but at the same time, success measures how many people the song reached and which songs are most representative of this decade.

whether "Irreplaceable" was huge overseas or not you can't deny the impact that this song had on the music scene and the countless songs that it had inspired with that fresh Pop/RnB sound. And "We Belong Together" is the most successful single of the decade in the U.S. so it's absurd to see it not included in a "best of decade" list.

I would have included all those songs had I been compiling a top 25 list, but I wouldn't place them in the top 5. And yes, "SexyBack" was a trendsetter but it hasn't aged well either, and quite frankly it wasn't any good to begin with.
