Islam (in the way fo the Quran) is actually the most tolerant and peaceful of Abrahamic religions.
The Quran does look down on homosexuality (which is one of the reasons i'm no longer religious), but there's no punishment for being gay. it says something like "dishonor them" which is like shaming them, until they repent, but no real punishment.
Only when you cheat on your wife/husband are you suppose to be punished and only if there were at least 2 witnesses. The punishment is something like a 100 lashes for adultery
Transgender people are acknowledged and even accepted. Most muslims don't know this, but they are.
Violence is not allowed, only when you're being attacked is it okay for you to defend yourself. If the other side surrenders, you have to do the same. You're not even allowed to kill/execute your captives.
No slavery.
Women are allowed to go to school, work, rule and own property.
Both men and women are expected to be conservatively dressed, not just women. Men are told to lower their gaze, so this cat calling nonsense is actually "haram".
Science is advocated and this is so important. The reason muslims even had a Golden Age was because the Quran allowed them their curiosity and questions.
There are certain things about it that I don't agree with it either. But if I had to pick one of the religions to follow... it would certainly be Islam. I hope Janet is happy.
