Regardless of any other opinions, Serena Williams is without a doubt the best female tennis player to have ever lived. And it's not even close. There was an entire documentary about how Steffi Graf did not win a single major because of Monica Seles but when Seles was stabbed and removed from the equation then Steffi was dominant again. Serena has never been in that situation. In every match she's ever played she's been the favorite. Serena has dominated the woman's game like no player before her and bookmark me next year she will complete the golden slam by winning all 4 majors and the gold medal in Rio.

H2H is also 7-6 Serena which includes their only Grand Slam final meeting in 1999. Hingis is not even debatable, not even close.

You could argue Navratilova and Court though. However Serena's single slams (the most important GOAT factor) blows Navratilova's out of the water. Court won slams when you needed 4 or 5 wins and the top players did not bother to attend the slams.

Serena is only behind Steffi. If she reaches 22, the tiebreaker of doubles and mixed resumes come into play and Serena has a better one by FAR. 23 puts Steffi out of contention

As a stand alone, a SF is nothing to be ashamed of, but when put into context, its is a massive disappointment and Serena won't ever recover from this.
