Add Jay-Z and Lady Gaga to the performers' list, and 50 cent, Nelly Furtado, and Leighton Meester to the presenters' list. http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/161...12/jay_z.jhtml

Jay-Z And Lady Gaga To Perform At 2009 VMAs
50 Cent, Nelly Furtado and Leighton Meester will be presenters at September 13 show.
By James Montgomery
It was already shaping up to be a pretty huge night, but now, the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards have gotten even bigger. Or at least grittier and glammier.
That's because Jay-Z and Lady Gaga have been booked to perform at the VMAs, joining an already impressive list that includes Taylor Swift, Green Day, Pink and Muse.
Jay — whose gnarly "D.O.A. (Death of Auto-Tune)" is up for Best Hip-Hop Video and Best Male Video — will perform a song from his hotly anticipated The Blueprint 3 album, due September 11. The glittery Gaga — who, along with Beyoncé, leads everyone with nine VMA nods — will perform a single from her breakthrough The Fame album.
In addition to the performers, there are some big-name presenters to add to the show too. 50 Cent, Nelly Furtado and "Gossip Girl" star Leighton Meester — who is up for Best Pop Video and Best Direction for Cobra Starship's "Good Girls Go Bad" — will be on hand to, well, hand out the awards. They join Katy Perry, Ne-Yo and Chace Crawford, who have already been announced as VMA presenters.
But who will they be presenting the awards to? Well, that's up to you. Voting for the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards is under way over at VMA.MTV.com. Verizon Wireless subscribers can also vote by texting VMA to 97979.
The VMAs will broadcast live from New York on September 13 at 9 p.m. Russell Brand will once again serve as host for the evening. Trust us: It's going to be a night you just can't miss.

That's weird, they removed 50 Cent from the article and added Miranda Cosgrove. I guess something must've come up...

If Shakira and Britney performed it would be the best VMA ever.

Video of The Year, I think, should go to Single Ladies.
You have to look at the facts:
It's one of the most watched videos on YouTube, as well as most played on MTV and Vh1 (though they do ***** the heck out of Brit's videos).
It started the next biggest dance craze since Thriller.
It's been done by nearly every celebrity, as well as the United States president.
One hundred European women danced the choreography in London.
It also plays a prominent role in the upcoming episode of the new comedy television series, Glee.
If Single Ladies doesn't win Video of The Year, then it's because of the Brit-Brit stans. Doubt Gaga will win, though.

Yay the performers are getting better! First Pink and now Jay-Z and Lady GaGa! I hope that Jay-Z performs Run This Town and maybe Rihanna and Kanye will be there and I hope GaGa performs Poker Face and maybe Paparazzi. Also glad we finally got a good presenter Nelly Furtado, yuck at 50 Cent tho. Now bring on the Beyonce and Britney performances!

19, actually.
I'm terribly sorry for my counter-factual words. Allow me to rectify my previous statement.
It started a dance craze that has become BIGGER than Thriller.

Uh oh Anthony's mad.
Single Ladies is the biggest dance craze since Crank That which was the biggest dance craze since The Macrena which was the biggest dance craze since Thriller.
Thriller > Single Ladies > Crank That > Macarena
Beyoncé came the closest to creating a legendary dance craze as big as Thriller. Beyoncé

Wait, where's "The Ketchup Song" in this big dance craze continuum??? And square-dancing after Billy Ray Cyrus' "Achy Breaky Heart" came out?? And William Hung's "She Bangs" dance?? And.. oh well, I guess my point's been made...

The delusions that people believe.
A dance craze is when, you know, people actually do the dance. Shaking your hand from front to back doesn't count.

LFR. I truly feel sorry for people like you.
After Thriller, Michael had several other astonishing huge dances, like Bad and Smooth Criminal, for example. You're also forgetting Madonna - especially VOGUE - and Janet ****in' Jackson. Beyoncé has a long way to go to reach such kind of status.
And I'm listing big artists here. We all know many others came up with worldwide successful dance routines. With that I'm not saying Single Ladies wasn't huge, but it's just unacceptable how 90% of the Beyoncé fans try to make it look bigger than it is by denying others accomplishments.

then it would be logic if she wins best coreography... but best video?? its definetely not the best video.

Some people are mad Britney could never.
Single Ladies is in the same category in terms of iconic dance crazes as Thriller. Both will be remembered till the end of time.
