This is what I don't understand. Why are the gulf states so reluctant to accept migrants, even if it's only temporary until the crisis is solved. Why are these islamic-heavy countries doing nothing to aid their brothers and sisters?

That's not happening anymore. Merkel promised that every syrian refugee is allowed to stay. They won't be send back to the EU country they first registered.

What you didn't see is the start of that video where that man out of nowhere starts screaming and pushing that poor woman with her child on the rails, while officers around them are heard being confused. Of course, that was conveniently cut from most of the news outlets' broadcastings.

in sept 2017, BUT Merkel is so popular at the moment that almost 50% of all voters in Germany would vote for her party again in 2017, securing her another 4 years. Her biggest rival the SPD (a more liberal and social party) is most likely stuck at 25% of the votes..

Merkel - at this point - is almost secured a 4th term, which would end in 2021.

It maddens me that Europe now has to take the wrap while the wealthiest Arab countries in the Middle East are doing absolutely nothing. I sympathize with the migrants, and its sad to see them taking part of the wrap too when they're just so desperate for a better standard of living and a hopeful future. I still don't really support the mess that's going on and I'm intolerant of so many migrants coming into European countries and causing such chaos, but they're essentially helpless and on their last legs.

It's a tricky situation/debate and hopefully the world can come together and sort it out.

Accepting more and more refugees is gonna cause more and more problems, generating more support for right wing parties and sparking more conflicts between different ethnic groups. It's civil wars/ethnic wars waiting to happen

The situation is so messy, both for them (immigrants) and us (Europeans). I'd have literally no problem with us accepting them, but I can't say I am not afraid of terrorist attacks in the future.
