"Shake It Off" is a classic pop video, and what I love about it is that, dance trends aside, it would've been just as timeless as it is now if it were actually released in 1989. The look with her in all black would've been iconic if the song was released in the 80s imo.
"Blank Space" is beautifully shot, kinda hilarious, and perfectly fits the song it was made for. It's not as timeless, but it still has a classic feel bc of all the regality.
"Style" is kinda abstract, and I'm not really sure what she was going for, but it's very pretty. I'm sure we all agree a story of lovers through the ages would've been better tho. </3
"Bad Blood" is good, but it's kinda forced to fit in it's length. It would've been better if it was extended a bit. And, something else that I don't really like it how ultra futuristic it is compared to the rest of the era.
"Wildest Dreams" is gorgeous, and the story is definitely unique, but I think it could've benefitted from some story redistribution. If they just focused a little more on the dissolution of their relationship, it would've been perfect. But as it is, it's almost there, and that's good enough.
Now, will Lord go for artistic integrity and release "Out of the Woods" + "Clean" as singles, or will she choose guaranteed success and pick "New Romantics"? Guess we'll see in October/November.
