So Boots, the guy who worked on Beyoncé's self-titled album (he has production or co-production credits on Haunted. Drunk In Love, Angel, Jealous, Heaven, Blue, and a couple others) is coming out with his debut album later this year.
He was pretty much an unknown before Bey's album, and it's just kind of crazy how he went to work on such a large portion of one of the biggest albums of the past couple decades out of relative obscurity and now has a solo album coming out later this year.
I liked his mixtape, and his production on Bey's album so I thought I would check his solo stuff. I took a listen to his song Aquaria and I find it really creepy. It's strange musically, but really weird and unsettling lyrically and might interest people here (lyrics about infecting, idols, god, holy water, etc.) . Lyrics
It's also strange to me that the song rides a similar vibe to Tinashe's Aquarius (title track). They each have a really smooth, vibey sound, questionable lyrics about government, and even have a similar chant of "aquarius"
Above is the artwork for both their albums (with similar smokey effect). Below is the single artwork for Boot's Aquaria title track.
Like they're so similar in style, sound, even the design of the title. It's just strange that there are so many similarities between the two, especially since Tinashe's album (as much as love her, and the album) wasn't exactly successful enough to warrant a rip or imitator).
Is it possible that album concepts are recycled or something? Is Boots lifting Tinashe's ideas. Is there some weirder water obsession going on right now? Apologies for the long post and if it seems like I'm grasping here.
Album concepts are always copied/repeated/etc. But of course they're both fairly new (in terms of being known) so I can see how they may be linked. I can easily see them as the next generation of artists. Also Boots worked on FKA Twigs EP3 (Melissa). Also on Twitter the other day he said he had a dream of Azealia Banks. I should had saved it, he always delete his tweets swiftly
Boots is the one to watch conspiracy or no. But I think he's definitely being prep to go big in these next years.
Beyonce/her dad/husband/many connections are the reason Ciara, Rihanna, Amerie, Keyshia Cole, Aaliyah, Alicia Keys and Keri Hilson's mainstream careers never took off or ended to soon.
I also notice how more of the newer or lesser artists been releasing this year (Selena, Years and Years, FKA Twigs, Boots, Demi, Kendrick Lamar, etc.) while all the big guys and girls are pushing to late 2015 or 2016. This feels like a collective plan to me

Rihanna's still going strong, just finally under-performing but not even flopping.
But man so many black female artists not making it as big as Whitney/Mariah/Rihanna/Beyoncé. The game is definitely rigged especially given the abilities of Ciara and Alicia Keys.

I noticed that too. I think it really has to do with money and power behind the scenes. With Apple Streaming (and Tidal) being two of the biggest things to happen this year, along with the universal Friday release it seems like something's going on that they aren't telling us. It'll be interesting to see how Rihanna/Gaga/Beyonce/Katy/Adele/Kanye/Taylor/Britney etc. all handle a new release post Apple Streaming.
I feel like they are all waiting for someone to release first to see how the market is because it'd be embarrassing to release first and flop. Everyone is waiting for someone else to make the first move. I bet Adele won't even release this year either, it's just more speculation to see if the hype is there.

I totally agree and I could see it happening, tbh. We have to wait to see.
