I feel like Selena proves that Britney wasn't just about looks and being young. Selena doesn't even perform to overcompensate for less than stellar vocals like Britney, Madonna, Janet, JLo, Ciara etc.
If you can sing then fine but if you can't really sing that great then at least step it up in another area.
The reason why Madonna and Janet and even JLo don't get flack is because they work so hard in the other areas to overcompensate the people respect that. The reason Britney didn't get as much flack from 98-04 was because she worked hard and overcompensated. Since she has become lazier over the years it just makes her a bigger target
Selena looks 12, serves great rack, no rhythm and sounds like if Demi moore wanted to have a singing career back in the 90s she would be selena.
People give her catchy songs and they do ok but nothing iconic enough to make her a main pop girl which makes her so different from Britney in her hey day.
I'm glad Selena is in the industry to show that Britney had more to offer than her haters try to downplay her for.
It's pretty good, although that instrumental break in the bridge doesn't go nearly hard or long enough. I keep expecting it to go full-on "All The Lovers" and I'm disappointed every time.
