Yeah, I'm pretty sure it was. If I remember correctly it went top 50 on rhythmic and urban (which I don't think would've happened if it wasn't a single), and there was a very popular Kygo remix too which got loads of views on Youtube. It did really well on the Hot 100 too (well, by The Weeknd's standards back then, obviously now I'd expect his singles to do better).

That's why I find it funny how its streaming and sales have increased again recently. I even saw it get a few pop adds. It's rare to see a song die out and then have a revival like this. I was wondering if Billboard would let it re-enter, but I see it charting on Recurrent Songs instead.

I was checking on Youtube to see how many views the Kygo Remix of Often had (it had a LOT, and there were multiple videos), and it seems most of them have been taken down for copyright now. Might be coincidence, but maybe they're doing this as they're planning to (re-)release it as a single, which would involve putting it on iTunes, Spotify, etc.
