I know. I checked the free BB site myself just now too. They must be quintuple-checking Lana's figures before making them official.
I remember back in 2005 "We Belong Together" actually went to #1 a week earlier than it should have because an avid reader heard that Carey's label gave away 25,000 free downloads of her song, which was enough to put her at #2 on the HDS Chart at that time.
Even though BB waited really late that week to publish the Hot 100, they inadvertently decided to count those 25,000 downloads as sales, not knowing they were actually free, and added them towards her total for her first week at #1.
Of course, WBT became the biggest airplay song of the 00s, one of the biggest airplay hits of all time, and set a record number of audience impressions that was really more impressive for its time than Blurred Lines and Happy, since those songs broke her record in a time when impression levels were already significantly higher.
So BB admitted their mistake, but also pointed out how massive her song had grown on radio. They said they were wrong for counting her downloads, but pointed out she was on her way to having one of the biggest songs of all time with or without them. And they were right about the last part.
