But that's exactly what they want So many conservatives would LOVE a two tier system where the majority white population has inalienable citizenship rights and the (mostly Latin American) immigrants have conditional citizenship. That's what just happened in Canada, where people can now get their citizenship revoked due to terrorism charges, and considering the indiscriminate surveillance of all electronics and communications, imagine how easy it would be to accuse someone (if they google "how to make a bomb" just because they were curious they could, in theory, get arrested and deported even as citizens under the draconian new laws).

The baby should get citizenship but that shouldn't automatically grant the parents citizenship and that should apply everywhere. Having a baby somewhere just so you can get citizenship is gross, it's like using them as a tool.

Tbh I know several people who have done this, but they were wealthy white Latin Americans (they won't even give you a visa if you can't prove that you have a stable job and income and won't just disappear into the States once your visa expires) who wanted their kids to be able to travel easier, sine many Latin passports won't get you into a lot of places without paperwork. So it's really a response to racism that prevents people from travelling easily.

Exactly. Regardless of what they may claim it's all about placing Latinos in a lower class of citizenship. Next we move on to doing the same thing to those with a Spanish last name. There is a methodology to this xenophobic garbage.

And so many Americans forget that the majority of the States used to be a Spanish colony, and later Mexico, (where do you think the names "Florida", "Los Angeles", "San Francisco", "Las Vegas" come from?) and that there are many ethnically Latin, Spanish-speaking families who have lived there for centuries. It's why ignorant people saying "speak English, we're in the USA!" infuriates me, they don't understand that Spanish is as much a part of American history as English.

I agree with Trump "they gots to go" What's the point of granting "the baby" citizenship if the parents are undocumented illegals and have to be sent back if they go back so does the child unless the parents give them up for adoption
