The UK doesn't have an on air on sale approach, they premier songs 6 - 7 weeks before release and let them build on radio, that way when they are released the songs open with a high peak, normally the highest the song will go.

Though recently a few artists have favoured the On Air/On Sale approach with success and apparently labels are trying this again, they tried unsuccessfully a few years ago, songs just sunk without a track before.

I don't know what this chart is based on but it's very inaccurate. For example Lean On, This Summer's Gonna Hurt and Where Are U Now should be Top 5 because they are literally inescapable with Cool For The Summer in the Top 10 and rising. The only way to measure popularity here is through airplay and some of the songs in the Top 20 of that chart are never played.

I found all of these highest positions on Wikipedia and then started to search other positions and for Bulgaria found this. So it's pointless looking for another songs in this site which is probably unofficial?

Tell me this is irony.. I hate it. It's their work, they have to promote if they want to see good results. You need luck to succeed without doing any promo more than just being a big artist.

I think it's because of the deadline of the market lately. It would be very expensive for artists to have promos here and there while the sales are low. It won't return the cost of promo.
