IS BEING A FAN OF MADONNA CONSIDERED GAY? Like really actually ghey?
There are places in Europe and South America where that is not the case. In the U.S. (I live in NYC) it is. I'm the first to admit that I have two strikes against me because 1) my taste in music is gay AF and 2) I'm on ATRL but it shouldn't be so hard to convince people I'm straight (albeit with flawless bop-heavy taste and open, accepting attitudes).

Not until the late 00's, not trying to start a fight but I really feel like the rise of Gaga kinda exposed the stereotype of pop=gay. My two straight uncles (not gays in pretence, they are the stereotypical straight machos) were huge fans of her back in the 80's and I remember seeing posters and records at their place. My brother also played the American Life record a lot back then. They were not "ashamed" of loving Madonna. I don't think the public was aware of the huge gay followings on pop girls until the last decade.
I haven't been in Brazil long enough but, as far as I could see, it's definitely a gay thing being a Madonna fan.
My oldest brother has lived here his entire life basically(he's born in the US, like me, but moved to Brazil at the age of 5), he's straight and the other day we were chilling and drinking beers, me, him and one of his (str8) friends.
We were listening to music and his friend asked what should he put on next? I OBVIOUSLY said :Madonna
He immediately said:"oh, you're gay?? "

I don't really see it as a gay thing tbh, Madonna is a legend and her music has reached many generations and demographics I mean, Everybody was on a straight 54 year old man's playlist 2 weeks ago, my father stans for Borderline; Beautiful Stranger, Sorry and Hung Up have people of all kinds bopping at work so......she clearly has a lot of gay fans but you can't be the best selling female ever by having gays buy your work, let alone grossing billions on tour I openly say I'm a Madonna fan and no one has really called me out (I act masc too)
Could've done better with Music, HC, AL if I'd had more time to think.

I don't think it's gay to like her old stuff here, or to go to her shows, but it's definitely gay to like her new stuff. I feel like 'Confessions' and maybe "4 Minutes" was really the last time straights felt comfortable liking her current material.
But her old stuff gets pretty good airplay, and I know people who don't own a Madonna record past TIC that were more than willing to attend the MDNA show (as long as they didn't have to pay Madge ha crazy prices).

I'm also not a real fan, I'm a hater in disguise and I use this thread to shade Madge!
